Phonynoam Short Version: I love everything about this album...from the super-sexy cover to Emma DeCorsey's captivating vocals and songwriting to the fine musicianship throughout. I went for the vinyl version, and I'm glad that I did, as my big speakers make that bass sound like thunder.

Long Version: songsofinnocenceampexperience.blogspot.com/2020/11/i-am-polish-army.html Favorite track: David Bowie.
Art Fin

Art Fin Nice hard rock with memorable, scowling female vocals, good guitar riffage and a powerful rhythm section. This song reminds me of Tool but they also have slower songs that are blues rock. Favorite track: David Bowie.

Kyle Rogers Great guitar riffin’ hard rocker right here, strong 70s/90s vibes, excellent the whole way through. Emma is a great songwriter and these are some catchy tunes, I keep coming back to them. Def the kind of thing that would have inspired me to take up the guitar

You slam on your reverse, back up on Great Jones Keep driving forward, get to my ex's house Downstairs in the dark When I went down he said "welcome to my world" He sat me down and asked me everything he could So to say no You don't know, you don't know Now three years later I'm a tourist in town Completely jaded as I walk up and down What almost was home We almost made it on a cold basement floor Would have been worth it just to say I had loved But then he let me go You don't know, you don't know Where are you going in your white Range Rover The bridge and tunnel leads to the walking dead In the East Village now You don't know, you don't know

David Bowie 03:44
Cursed here to have never made it Victim of my own good nature Carving out some kind of survival Dutiful always my downfall Catherine has too many lovers Everyone who has ever seen her She don't know how good she has it Stardom so easily digested Another one gone Another one dead Another won't get What it is with me to get And every time I want to listen to his last song I have to listen to her at the same time Right place, right time is overrated So impressed by a clear imitation Eight hours every day staring nowhere Clearly wouldn't be if anyone cared Red flags were always going to be there She always was going to take over Robert, come meet me down at the crossroads? Time I sold myself to the Devil Another one gone Another one dead Another won't get What it is with me to get And every time I want to listen to his last song I have to listen to her at the same time Another one gone And the best of them dead And another won't get What it is with me to get And every time I want to listen to his last song I have to listen to her at the same time

Throat 04:09
Sean craves release on text, comes to my voice Then Jim calls, wants to come down, can't say no Fallen face down in the snow Get your hands off of my throat 3am Sunset Park here he is frost bite Fallen face down in the snow Get your hands off of my throat In my nest Eats me out Strangled Get him out Fallen face down in the snow Get your hands off of my throat

Dead Cat 03:42
My boy fought a dog, and he went down like the cat he was He saw an open door and stepped out to get it done My boy in one corner, and the other a tall black hound He fought hard and he fought clean, but that dog was fighting too rough and too mean My only son was my only one The best man I ever knew Now he's a real tiger My boy was a good man, and he earned every stripe he ever had Trained hard when he was young, but that day he was a little past his prime Only one fang left, and as handsome as the day that he was born Never wanted him to leave me, but sometimes a mama's gotta let go of her boy My only son was my only one The best man I ever knew Now he's a real tiger On the first day of fall, my boy set out to set up his last stand The night he went down, every cat on the street came out to hold my hand My only son was my only one The best man I ever knew Now he's a real tiger

Setup 03:03
Rolled out of bed all asleep undone Rolled out, torn up like a fucked up joint A joint your friend rolled and you didn't watch Watch out for some shit tripping dry Tripping over my shoes on the floor The floor is taking my hits so well So well covered in fits and cries Crying for something I need back bad Bad as you been, I been so sad Sad so much I'm drunk and calling mom Mama she swears I don't need no man But man, my nicest tits are going to waste Going to try going out again Again building up all my hope Hope built what I had with you You and your promises all worn out Worn out like a slept-in dress Dressed down like I'm sick at home Home up with the TV turned on Turned on like a waiting gun Gonna gun you for setting me up You and her both know it's a setup, it's a setup Up above ground can we grow again Again to dry up and die out again
6.
The Woods 03:57
Caity was what she was called by her brothers Who lived in the barn that she took us to Some took the train and one of us drove To the woods in the middle of the night Caity went into a catnap when she Looked into our eyes as we got up to leave But it scared her too much Even though we will see her again She must know that we will not leave her Asa quit drinking, he went up to bed And I pushed the mattress next to him so I could get in next to him With Caity on my other side The sun came up behind the trees that were behind the window that was behind the three of us We are all together and that's how it always will be She must know that we will not leave her
7.
Gene 03:45
Ocean came and fucked me perfect hard Just before I up and left this behind I went down for Gene and his old girlfriends No one would have ever thought I was there For all they knew While they got through One more night One more night Waves came up and took me right on in I was never so perfectly undone Oh I did it back and had it in me Only then felt like I could have done Gene If he'd had me More likely not Way that I am Way that I am It was all there All on that line To the other side Didn't know what I was getting into Drive me to the beach in the blinding rain Silently not knowing what we can do Pounding through the black on your car windowpane Sad to say there's nothing in this for you Back to her you drive home to And try to get through One more night One more night

My Old Man 04:12
My old man, he could always tell When a girl was good at giving head Miss Easy Lay and Uncle Rock & Roll Big ass, bigtime need to spread My old man went for me instead 21, bright and black-eyed kid He had taste, that's what it must have meant And for that he gets some decent cred This said this said my old man said this said my old man said this said my old man said this said my old man Every girl up and down Ludlow Street Daddy dreams about them every day While his old lady hits her bong at home What she don't know won't kill her anyway This said this said my old man said this said my old man said this said my old man said this said my old man So in love with every dirty predatory grimy sleazy oil in your dirty body, cut off from you I am dried up, done for, I am tearing myself screaming at the sky for taking you away from me, and so I'll need another predator to find me, be another version of how much I loathe myself and want to hurt myself for never being good enough for my real old man My old man thinks he can check on me Every time he knows and wants to see By himself all the way in the back Stoned as he could possibly be This said this said my old man said this said my old man said this said my old man said this said my old man

about

"'You Don’t Know' – the first track on the debut album by this Brooklyn trio led by singer-guitarist-songwriter Emma DeCorsey – sounds like grunge never ran out of gas: a dark, roundabout guitar riff; the way DeCorsey’s sharp, plaintive voice harmonizes with that hook, Kurt Cobain-style; the snap to attention in the chorus. But then 'David Bowie' pulls you hard into the present as DeCorsey confesses – in chant-like anguish against a hammering motif and yowling guitar – her competitive frustration ('Cursed here to have never made it/Victim of my own good nature') and the compound ache of listening to the last music of a treasured icon. In this era of near-daily rock & roll passings, DeCorsey hits that intersection of pain where profound loss meets the fear that an age has truly passed and you’ve missed the chance for your own voice to be heard. The credits note that DeCorsey wrote these eight songs – including the Soundgarden-like avalanche of 'Dead Cat' and the frantic, choral slice of the title song – over a decade. She didn’t waste the care or patience. On My Old Man, I Am the Polish Army have delivered the year’s best rock & roll album about time running out – and making the best of everything of you have to give." - David Fricke, Rolling Stone
